TWO adult males have been arrested after a number of puppies were stolen in a burglary in Swindon.

The burglary took place at a house in Percy Street, Rodbourne, on Monday, January 13.

Nine puppies were stolen between 8.30am and 10.30am and are described as Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Collie crossbreeds.

Two puppies were subsequently found and returned to the victim on Tuesday, January 14.

Yesterday Wiltshire police arrested two men on suspicion of burglary, both of whom remain in police custody at this time.

Following one arrest, a puppy was recovered at an address in West Swindon and has been returned to her mother where she is making a good recovery.

Police have now searched a number of addresses in relation to the puppies, six of which are still missing.

These puppies are too young to have been removed from the care of their mother, and police have concerns about their welfare if they are not found and returned to their mother urgently.

Detective Sergeant Gemma Vinton said “Whilst I am pleased that we have located another puppy, I am concerned that six remain apart from their mother.

"It is imperative that the puppies are found, returned to their mother urgently and appropriate veterinary care can be sought.

"I would urge anyone with any information to contact us immediately."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Swindon Priority Crime Team at Wiltshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
