Bradford on Avon children’s author Anna Wilson has drawn on her own experiences of being on safari to write her new book, Monkey Madness.
The author, who has written 25 books, was on safari in Botswana two years ago when the idea for the book, a sequel to Monkey Business, came about.
She said: “I thought the characters would want to be with us on safari, so I started keeping notes.
“We met a fantastic man called Bibi who was really knowledgeable about animals and birds. Every evening he would tell stories from his childhood and I would write them down.”
Mrs Wilson has two children and the main character Felix is based on her son and his love of animals.
The book, aimed at seven to 11-year-olds, can be bought from book shops, including Ex Libris in Bradford, and online.
