A woman who was part of a school group walking on Roundway Hill was airlifted to hospital after she fell.
The woman, thought to be aged about 50, twisted her back.
Because of the location being inaccessible to a land ambulance, Wiltshire Air Ambulance was sent to the scene.
Air ambulance paramedic Matt Baskerville said: “The patient couldn’t walk. We gave her pain relief and flew her to Great Western Hospital, Swindon.”
The woman patient was a helper with a school party who was visiting Braeside, the popular education centre off Bath Road in the centre of Devizes.
She was later discharged from hospital after the accident last Wednesday afternoon.
