Young people from Pewsey, Upavon and Everleigh studying at Andover College will be able to get to classes with ease when a new subsidised bus service launches.

From September, students in these villages can take the bus to college in the morning and use a return service.

Stuart Barlow, Andover College assistant principal, said: “We know that there are many young people from Pewsey, Upavon and Everleigh who would happily make Andover their first choice of college but the lack of subsidised travel means they tend to opt for somewhere else.

“We hope to see many more young people from these areas coming to Andover College to pursue the next stage of their education.”

The bus service will cost £470 per year. There is financial support for households with income below £20,000.

The college is holding an open evening on February 6 from 6pm to 8.30pm. Register at www.andover.ac.uk or call (01264) 360000 for further information.
