A man who was in a gang which burgled a town centre house the day after his 25th birthday was also found with a knife soon afterwards.

Courtney Campbell was with three teenagers when they broke into the property in Duke Street, Trowbridge, on Wednesday December 4.

Campbell, Lee Brock, 19, Tyrone White, 18, and a 16-year-old boy, made off with a battery-powered remote-controlled car, bracelet, ring, phone case and sat-nav.

And later that day Campbell was caught in nearby Polebarn Road with a kitchen knife, Swindon Crown Court heard on Friday.

He had also been accused of having a Stanley knife in Duke Street the same day but after denying it prosecutors said they would not seek a trial.

All four pleaded guilty to burglary and Campbell, of Excelsior Street, Bath, admitted possessing a bladed article in public without good reason.

Rodney Wilson, defending Campbell, who appeared by video link from prison, said he had also appeared before Bristol Crown Court that day.

He said in that hearing, also by video, he had pleaded guilty to another charge of aggravated burglary and asked for the two matters to be sentenced together.

Judge Douglas Field said he would liaise with judges in Bristol with a view to that case coming to Swindon for sentence.

Mike Pulsford, for the youth, said his client had no previous convictions and asked for his case to be remitted to the youth court.

The judge agreed as the boy, who is from Trowbridge, may get a referral order which can only be given by the lower court.

He released Brock, of Primmers Place, Westbury, and White, of Excelsior Street, Bath, on conditional bail to Friday, February 28. He told them they must observe night time curfews and not contact witnesses in the case.
