LEAFLETS encouraging users to share their experience of NHS services in Swindon will begin landing on doormats across town from this week.

The Better Information Means Better Care booklet will explain the benefits of giving feedback on the care people received at any one time.

Sharing information helps ensure that the quality and safety of services is consistent across the country and can also highlight different diseases and conditions that may require more NHS investment.

Once received by the NHS, it will be used to find more effective ways of preventing, treating and managing illnesses and make sure that any changes or improvements to services reflect the needs of local patients.

Useful feedback could also help health chiefs understand who is most at risk of particular diseases and conditions.

Dr Elizabeth Mearns, medical director at NHS England Bath, Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire area team, said: “The NHS has been collecting information like this from hospitals for decades but until now we’ve been missing information about the quality of care provided outside hospital.

“This initiative is about upgrading our information systems to get a more complete picture of the quality of care being delivered across all parts of the NHS and social care.”
