A charity golf day with the chance of winning a new Jaguar car for the weekend has been organised to help raise money for three children’s charities.

The event has been organised by Paul Sparrowhawk, of Upper Minety, to support his wife Claire’s efforts to raise £3,850 to pay for her place on a gruelling seven-day charity trek through the Grand Canyon in October.

Mrs Sparrowhawk, a 33-year-old mother-of-two and teaching assistant at Minety Primary School, hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the Make A Wish Foundation, Ray of Sunshine and Starlight through various fundraising ventures organised over the past few months as part of her trek.

The 18-hole golf tournament will take place at South Cerney on March 21, with the first team teeing off at 8am.

Entry costs £100 per team of four for 18 holes. Sponsorship for the holes are also needed.
