Council gives new car wash plans the brush off
ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town Council has opposed plans to build a car wash on the site of the current car park behind Morrisons in Station Road.
Plans for the car wash on the site were first entered by a Mr Pang in June last year, but were rejected by Wiltshire Council.
In a decision notice the council said: “It is considered that the proposed development would lead to adverse impacts upon the general amenity of local residents, particularly in respect of the likely disturbance created by the activity at weekends. “In adding to the general disturbance created, the proposal is also considered to provide insufficient space for waiting cars to avoid blocking the private road to the east and is therefore likely to obstruct traffic on Station Road at busy times.”
But in December Mr Pang submitted a revised application to the council.
The town council discussed the plans in a meeting on January 30 and agreed to advise Wiltshire Council of their concerns and object the plans, which are in contravention to the Local Plan.
Members raised concerns that the proposed development would obstruct traffic and that adequate provisions would not be provided for the drainage of water.
Residents have until today to comment on the revised car wash scheme.
