1st Melksham Brownies were among the packs who enjoyed celebrating the start of the Brownie Guide Centenary Year at a county party in Swindon recently. The group of 24 girls have a double celebration this year as their pack is 20 years old in March. Incorporating all the traditional activities set out 100 years ago, the pack, which meets on Bath Road, complete at least one badge a term, taking part in adventures that enhance their life skills and expand self knowledge. Divided into sixes, the Elves, Pixies, Gnomes and Scottish Kelpies will be taking part in outdoor adventures to learn new camp skills and ways to forage in the spring. Brown Owl Beverly Viveash said: “We are going to be giving over an evening to each six to lead, helping them plan the activities they would like to lead and games they would like to run.”
