Residents in North Bradley whose bus services were cut by First UK are being provided with extra services by Wiltshire Council.

First UK withdrew the 264 service between Bath and Warminster, while the 265 service – between Bath and Salisbury – now goes to the White Horse Business Park in Trowbridge instead of North Bradley.

Frome Minibuses, under contract to Wiltshire Council, now provides additional journeys to North Bradley, including the X58 service from Frome to Trowbridge stopping in North Bradley at 8.06am; and the number 67 Trowbridge circular will now run six times on week days between 9.38am and 4.46pm.

Residents and parish councillors are appealing to the firm to reinstate the original service and met First UK representatives at Monday’s parish council meeting to express their anger.

Parish councillor Horace Prickett, who also serves as a Wiltshire councillor, said: “I was very pleased with the outcome. They said maybe they didn’t get it right.

“They have agreed to join a working party with the parish council to look at the whole thing again.

“We have ideas to re-route the First 265 to serve White Horse Business Park and North Bradley. Whatever First decide, it cannot be a quick fix because they have to give 56 days notice to the traffic commissioner.”

Cllr Prickett said he and the parish council were grateful to Wiltshire Council for re-routing some of the buses.

Parish councillor Alf Moreton said: “First picked up the general feel of the parish – that North Bradley has been let down by the withdrawal of services.”
