Police in Calne have arrested three teenagers for anti-social behaviour.

Five officers were called to The Pippin to move on a large group of youths who had been reported as behaving in an anti-social way at 1.30am on January 26.

Some of the youngsters, when confronted, refused to co-operate with the police.

As a result, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Police also arrested an 18-year-old man for a public order offence, after he threw a glass bottle in the direction of one of the officers.

He was charged and appeared before magistrates in Swindon on January 27.

The bottle missed the officer, but the teenager was given a £60 fine, plus court costs, and was ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid community work.

The two teenagers arrested for drunk and disorderly behaviour were each fined £90, but did not appear in court to answer the charges.

Calne PCSO Mark Cook thanked volunteers operating the town council’s CCTV cameras, who had helped to catch some of the incident on film.

He said: “We’re aware of ongoing issues with youths in the area of The Pippin.

“This sort of behaviour is not acceptable in Calne and we’re going to increase the policing presence in this area in the future.

“Any persons found engaging in this sort of behaviour will be dealt with accordingly.”
