EDINGTON Priory Church took delivery of its new organ on Monday, with work now under way to assemble it in time for Easter.

Building the organ, bought after the church raised the £437,000 needed, is due to take four to six weeks. It has been made by Harrison and Harrison in Durham.

The old 1905 Henry Jones organ was dismantled last month and sent to Gustav Adolf Grammar School in Tallinn, Estonia.

The organ is a gift from Edington Parochial Church Council to the school, which is paying the costs of the move.

Fundraiser Anne Curtis, of the Edington Organ Project, said: “The new organ looks like a kit of parts at the moment, but it will start to look recognisable quickly.”

An official unveiling will be held at the Edington Music Festival in August.
