Cheers to Wadworth Brewery for leading the way by making a donation of £1,000 to our appeal for Devizes Opportunity Centre.
Most of the money, £825, came from a raffle held at the Devizes firm’s awards evening and Waddies agreed to round up the total to £1,000.
The cheque was presented to opportunity centre manager Betty Newman on Wednesday.
Wadworth chairman and managing director Charles Bartholomew said: “When we heard they were struggling for money we were glad to support them in this way.”
Wadworth commercial executive Cindy King said: “I think the Opportunity Centre is remarkable. I have three children and one of them had leukaemia when they were 18 months old so I know how important it is for the parents to be supported as well.”
One of the first Gazette donation forms to be received after the launch of our campaign last week came from an anonymous donor who just put ‘good luck’ on the form and enclosed a cheque for £50.
