EXCITEMENT is mounting as more details of next month’s Vintage and Retro Festival is announced. The two-day event, due to take place on March 1 and 2, is being held in the Brunel Centre, with attractions and music spreading out across Swindon town centre.

In addition to the display of around 30 vintage cars and motorbikes, there will be live music and dancing at locations throughout the town. At 11am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, shoppers can learn to jive, for free, at the 1940s teach-in that takes place on the stage in the Brunel Arcade. In the Brunel Plaza (upstairs outside Boots) there will be performances of 1950s style dance, with a chance for shoppers to join in and learn the dances. These will take place at noon and 3pm on both days.

There will be entertainment outside the centre too with busking sessions from Ode and The BeBops who will be outside Argos in Wharf Green from noon on Saturday, plus Josie and The Outlaw who will be situated outside Debenhams in The Parade from 1pm on Saturday. On Saturday evening there will be a ticket-only live music event starting at 6.30pm. Bands performing include Sugar Belles, Hot Tin Roofs and Gene Gamble and the Shufflers. Tickets are now on sale from the Centre Management Offices, The Brunel at £5 per ticket or £15 for a family ticket.
