CROWDS are set to be well and truly wowed at the Wyvern Theatre this year following the release of the venue’s latest programme of events.

The spring-summer season boasts an array of shows from Hot Flush featuring TV’s Birds Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Blood Brothers to Bugsy Malone, Peter Pan on Ice and children’s favourite Peppa Pig.

Marketing manager Richard Loftus said he was delighted with the list of shows this season and hopes the people of Swindon will be just as impressed.

“The 2014 spring-summer season at the Wyvern Theatre is full of fantastic shows and first-class performers,” he said.

“Maureen Nolan will be wowing crowds in Blood Brothers; Strictly Come Dancing favourites Pasha and Katya will return for three nights, followed by Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer in dance show Flashmob.

“Birds Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph will star in the naughtiest musical in town, Hot Flush; and, marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan will stun audiences in the stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ Birdsong.

“In addition to a sensational line-up on the main stage, the Wyvern Theatre also hosts a number of unmissable dining and entertainment events in The Place, such as The Fawlty Towers Dinner Show and the ever-popular Ladies’ Night.”

Other dining and entertainment events include Monday Night Magic, Murder Mystery Dinner and Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo.

Former X Factor winner Joe McElderry will be at the theatre in June, ahead of The Dreamboys on their Fit and Famous Tour the following night. TV wildlife expert Chris Packham will also be appearing at the Wyvern, when he will present a show about some of nature’s more interesting species on July 7.

The Wyvern’s 2013-2014 pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk was the top selling panto in the theatre’s history.

Between December and January, over 26,000 patrons watched the show and because of this, people are now being urged to book early to see this year’s pantomime Dick Whittington. Tickets are already on sale.
