British judo champion Tom Reed shared his experiences and inspired pupils at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon Pupils from the secondary school and nominated pupils from neighbouring primary schools took part in the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.
They learnt why sport is a positive activity, what skills it can teach them and heard how Tom got into judo at the age of eight.
They put all of this into practice with an hour-long session of activities with Tom showing them judo techniques.
The theme for the session was inspiration and Tom, from Devizes, said: “They responded very well. At that age, they are still developing socially. It was important to get them integrating, doing something competitive, teaching them the value of hard work and dealing with failure.
“A large part of sport is being able to bounce back.”
