Fitzmaurice Primary School’s solar panel project in Bradford on Avon is hoping to raise some much-needed funds through an Auction of Promises in June.

The school needs to raise £16,000 for 40 panels, which will save them 4.5 tonnes of CO2 per year, and so far they have raised £2,500.

Christine Giles runs Christine’s Sustainable Supermarket in the town and has organised the Auction of Promises at St Margaret’s Hall on June 27.

Auction items include a family pass to the Eden Project, breakfast for two at Stowford Manor and kettle bell fitness sessions. On the day there will also be food, music and children’s entertainment.

Bradford on Avon Town Council awarded the project a £200 grant at Tuesday’s Full Council meeting. The money will go towards the hiring of St Margaret’s Hall for the auction and will act as a donation towards the solar panels.

To donate prizes email c.giles.68@btinternet.com or go to www.solarschools.org.uk/fitzmaurice.

  • The school will be bag packing at Sainsbury’s, Bradford on Avon, tomorrow from 10am to 2pm to raise money for its solar panel project.
