THE development at Regent Circus is an exciting one for the town, but it is causing some concern to businesses and residents nearby.
A cinema, supermarket and a number of top-name restaurants are due to open on the former Swindon College site later this year which will transform the top end of the town.
Development company Ashfield Land has revealed Jimmy’s Restaurants, operators of World Kitchen and Pan Asian Kitchen, will join Nando’s, Prezzo, Ask and Coal Grill & Bar at the development.
The construction phase of Regent Circus is due to be completed at Easter with a public opening in the autumn.
Despite the heavy rain in recent weeks, construction work is believed to still be running on schedule.
However, last month we reported excavation work on the site has caused structural damage to the Rehoboth Strict Baptist Chapel in Prospect Hill.
The chapel, which was built in 1882, has been closed for more than three weeks after it was deemed unsafe following the work. Cracks more than one-inch wide have appeared in the building.
