THE inquest into the death of bricklayer John Shailes, whose body was found in the River Ray last July, will take place this week.
John, 27, was reported missing after leaving the Tawny Owl pub with his friends and going to Mouldon Hill country park.
His friends thought he had gone into the water for a swim but after being unable to find him they contacted the police.
This led to a major missing persons hunt of the lake and surrounding area, involving Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Search and Rescue and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue.
His body was later found just yards from where John had last been seen.
The inquest on Thursday will be held at Salisbury Coroner’s Court.
