Staff at Wiltshire-firm UK SBS (UK Shared Business Services Ltd) were working flat out this evening to cope with Sports Relief calls.

Last year, UK SBS took donation calls for Comic Relief to the value of over £51,000, taking over 1,500 calls throughout the evening.

And tonight 100 UK SBS staff are volunteering to receive donation calls from people across the country at its base in North Star Avenue, Swindon.

The call centre team will also be joining the fun and games themselves by running fundraising activities, such as retro games featuring the Kerplunk Kup and Connect 4 Tournament.

The volunteers will be helping Sport Relief to raise cash to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.

Each year volunteers from UK SBS’ 900-strong team support a number of charities and last year over a quarter of the staff did their bit and notched up over 1,600 hours of voluntary service between them.

Jonathan Preece, chief executive, said: “Our rapid growth has been due to the professionalism and skills of our staff, and we are proud that they are eager to give up their personal time to be involved in such a worthy cause.”

UK SBS Ltd is a not-for-profit mutual organisation, providing shared business services to the public sector to ultimately save taxpayers money, improve quality and free up clients to focus on their core business.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £195 million.
