A woman from Swindon died of her injuries yesterday after she was involved in a major car crash on the M1.
The collision occurred at about 12.41pm on Friday, March 21 on the southbound carriageway of the M1 motorway about one-and-a-half miles after junction 22 and before junction 21A and involved one vehicle, a black Mitsubishi L200 Animal 4x4.
Two people from the vehicle were taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, the woman, Mrs Tracy Maria Walters, 48, of Swindon, subsequently died in hospital yesterday.
The second person from the vehicle, a man, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Leicestershire Police Detective Constable 4406 Kath Orr is investigating the collision, she said: “I would urge anyone who was travelling along the M1 motorway at about 12.40pm on Friday and may have seen the Mitsubishi before the collision to contact me.
Officers from East Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision on the M1 motorway on Friday, March 21.
She said: "If you were travelling along this road and haven’t yet spoken to police officers we need to speak to you. If you witnessed any part of the collision then please come forward."
