Malmesbury School will close to pupils in years eight and nine, but will remain open for years seven, 10, 11, 12 and 13.

Headmaster Tim Gilson said: “We will have a facility for year seven in the library that will be supervised.

“We will have our year 10 doing mock exams and year 12 are out on a trip so we have a couple of things going on which will make it easier for us to manage the situation.

“Strikes are always very difficult and disruptive; it’s hard for the parents too.

“Teachers that take part don’t do it lightly; they feel very strongly about it.

“We are all trying to do the best we can for the children and for the parents.”
