Plans are under way to get Corsham walking this summer, with the launch of the town’s first Walking Festival.

Taking place on June 28, the festival will see a number of walks set up in and around the town, to showcase the views of the area.

Sandra Cholerton, volunteer at the town’s Tourist Information Centre, said: “It’s a one-day trial to see if it works, then we will look at doing it again.

“There are walks out towards Colerne, Broughton Gifford and Lacock, and a local heritage walk around the town.

“There are eight altogether, of various difficulties and lengths, so hopefully it will attract a diverse number of people.

“We’re trying to set up Corsham as a Walkers are Welcome town, and this could really get us on the walking map.”
