An application for changes to the Calne skate bowl has been submitted.

The skate bowl, in Station Road, was built almost 20 years ago and has undergone several repairs in the past, including an £18,000 repair six years ago.

Permission to resurface the bowl and add an extension was granted in May 2012, but in February this year engineers said the construction was not strong enough.

The new application suggests demolishing the bowl and building a redesigned version with soundproof fencing, a youth shelter, litter bins and CCTV.

The application by Calne Town Council says: “The bowl has long been an attraction in the town and reconstruction and enhancement can only benefit users.”
