TWO teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of joyriding and criminal damage after a classic BMW was taken late on Tuesday night and driven dangerously through the Parks.

The black BMW 316 was taken from an address on Helston Road without the owner’s consent at 11.15pm on Tuesday and is thought to have crashed into a number of cars before being stopped by police early on Wednesday morning.

Police were called at 11.45pm, and are aware of the car being involved in at least one collision, with a Honda Jazz, as the BMW spent an hour and a half on the roads in the area.

It is thought a number of other cars may also have been struck by the BMW, along with residential property, before it came to a halt.

The two men, aged 18 and 19, from the Swindon area, have now been charged and were taken into custody. They will appear at Swindon Crown Court next month.

The BMW is still being examined by officers before being returned to its owner.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the events of the night to come forward, including any residents in Park North or Park South who may have had their property damaged.

It is thought additional damage may have been caused to property in the area between 11.15pm on Tuesday and 12.50am on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police are appealing to witnesses following an aggravated taking without consent that occurred in Swindon on Tuesday, March 25.

“Two males aged 18 and 19 have been charged in relation to an incident which took place in the Parks area of Swindon late on the evening of Tuesday 25 March.

“This incident resulted in damage being caused to a number of vehicles and a garage door.

“Police are appealing for witnesses to a black BMW being driven through the estate and for anybody who has had their property damaged on the 25th into the 26th of March to come forward.

“Anyone with information should contact Swindon police asking for the local crime team on 101.”
