PUPILS at Drove Primary School are doing their bit for the Adver’s 160 Appeal – and winning themselves Smarties in the process.
Now youngsters at Drove Primary School have pledged to refill 160 Smarties tubes with 20p coins to donate to the appeal.
Lorraine Jeffery, a nursery teacher at the school who is also responsible for citizenship and the student council, said: “All the children are already very excited about it. I told one of them and he told one of his friends and they are excited to get started.
“I just think it’s a fantastic cause and unfortunately everyone knows someone who has gone through cancer and it’s just great to be able to support them when we can.
“All the tubes will be on display in the foyer so all the children can take part and help raise the money.”
The school will launch their campaign in the next few weeks during a special assembly, and then pupils will have the whole of the summer term to fill up their Smarties tubes.
Once all the pupils manage to fill the Smarties tubes, they will be able to munch on the Smarties themselves.
