Urchfont Village Hall and Devizes School have secured grants from Devizes Area Board.
The hall committee got £5,000 towards the cost of extending the kitchen.
Secretary Barry Hickey told the board’s meeting on March 24: “About 15 groups use it each week. Over the last five or six years, we have been looking to extend it by having new toilets, floors, chairs and IT resources.
“Urchfont Manor has closed. The village hall is trying to fill a gap. One of the ways is by offering better resources for events and adult education.”
The kitchen has limited facilities with food only being heated up rather than cooked.
The area board gave a grant of £4,000 for furniture and equipment for an extended services drop-in centre at Devizes School.
The centre will provide advice and support to students.
