Devizes firm opens new showroom

A popular Devizes carpet retailer has opened a new showroom thanks to support from Barclays Bank.
Mike Mitcham Carpet Supplies has transformed its 100sqm premises at White Horse Business Centre, at Hopton trading estate on the outskirts of Devizes, to house the latest samples in carpets, wood, laminates and luxury vinyl tiles.
Owner and manager Mike Mitcham established the business in 1981, having completed his apprenticeship and initial working life with Courts Furniture store, formerly in High Street, Devizes.
He has since developed a reputation for supplying and fitting quality carpets and flooring alongside delivering exemplary customer service. Customers now include generations of local families as well as high-profile commercial contracts.
To expand the business further, Mr Mitcham has joined forces with a new business partner, Simon Glasscoo, as demand for quality flooring has increased, particularly as the housing market has started to re-establish itself following the recession.
Mr Mitcham said the investment into his premises is as a result of moving his banking to Barclays.
He said: “The ability for customers to come into the showroom and choose samples to take away is proving popular. We still offer a home and commercial selection service, free surveys and estimations, but having the choice to come to us adds to our customer service offering which is essential in today’s competitive market.”
The firm employs four members of staff, including an apprentice, which is how Mr Mitcham started out in the industry.
He said: “Giving a young person the opportunity to learn a trade means that we can share our expertise to ensure the standard of fitting carpets and flooring are at the highest level both now and in the future. It also provides a young person the chance to learn new skills.”
Mike Mitcham Carpet Supplies is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturdays 9am to noon.To find out more, visit www.mm carpetsnflooringonline.co.uk
