YOUNGSTERS brought the joys of spring to residents of a care home this week with a special Easter-inspired visit.

The Commonweal School pupils visited Princess Lodge, in Curie Avenue, to spread a little cheer to elderly residents by singing songs and handing out bunches of fresh daffodils.

Around seven talented Year 9 students took part and performed a range of acts including singing solos and as a choir.

Ali Sutcliffe, head of music at the Old Town school, said: “The students we took are a great bunch and highly talented so it was nice to be able to show off what they coud do. The residents in the care home enjoyed themselves and many were singing along.

“The weather was beautiful so we did it outside but even the ones who couldn’t make it outside were watching with the windows open.

“We usually go along at Christmas time but Princess Lodge asked us to go back at Easter as part of their programme of entertainment for their residents. It was really rewarding for the young people too.”
