ANYBODY in Swindon who is severely sight-impaired or blind, or lives with someone who is, should make sure they are claiming their 50 per cent reduction in the cost of their annual TV Licence, TV Licensing officials have said.

TV Licensing has been working with RNIB and groups which support people who are sight-impaired across the UK to make sure anyone eligible to receive the concession takes advantage of it.

Last year more than 37,400 blind concessionary licences were issued in the UK, including more than 100 in Swindon.

A blind concession licence costs £72.75 for colour and £24.50 for black and white.

TV Licensing’s Richard Chapman said: “If you live with someone who is severely sight-impaired, they are entitled to a blind concession TV licence which is half the price of a full fee licence.”

“If you live with someone who is sight-impaired, and have a full TV licence in your name, you can transfer the licence to the name of that person.”
