Fans put their foot down in 92 grounds drive
FOUR football fans are driving to all 92 Football League and Premier League grounds in 92 hours to raise money for local children’s hospice Helen & Douglas House.
The team, which consists of Swindon Town fan Marc Harris, Cris Bowden, an Oxford United Fan, Steve Hall a Plymouth Argyle fan and Andy Price a Leicester City fan, will be travelling in the region of 2,500 miles over the length and breadth of England and Wales in 92 hours.
They have chosen to raise money for local children and young adult’s hospice, Helen & Douglas House, because Cris and Steve are friends with a four year old girl who was born with congenital toxoplasmosis, and has been visiting Helen House for three years. At just two weeks old, she nearly died in intensive care, and at the same time her parents learned she was severely disabled.
STFC fan Marc said: “I was inspired to do this to raise both awareness of the fantastic job Helen & Douglas do in Swindon and also raise some funds to help support them and local children both now and in the future.
“I am a season ticket holder at Swindon and the club has been extremely supportive donating a signed ball and my good friend former striker Gulliano Graziolli has obtained merchandise for me from his previous clubs. “Steve Hale, Swindon Youth team GK coach, has donated several pairs of gloves towards our charity auction on April 25 in Basingstoke.”
It is not too late to donate to the Drive 92 in 92 challenge in aid of Helen & Douglas House. Visit www.justgiving.com/Cris-Bowden/.
The group left Leicester at 10pm on April 8 and hope to arrive in Plymouth at 3pm tomorrow.
