Trowbridge mum Jill Moore is taking on the London Marathon this weekend in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust because of the support they’ve given her daughter Alice, 12.

Alice, a Clarendon Academy pupil, has had cystic fibrosis, which affects her lungs and liver, since she was a young child. But thanks to medical help and backing from the trust she hasn’t let that affect her and currently serves on the Wiltshire Assembly of Youth.

Pharmacist Mrs Moore, 42, who lives in Albany Close, said: “Alice is a complete go-getter and I’m raising money to give her and others with cystic fibrosis a better future. I reached my fundraising target of £2,014 on Monday which made me rather emotional. It has been great to receive so much support and I’m determined to give the marathon my best shot.”

During Mrs Moore’s training for the 26 mile run, as well as encouragement from Alice, her husband Steve and their other daughter Rachel, 15, have also got right behind her.

Alice said: “I’m really proud of my mum and I think she is doing a great thing to raise money for the charity.”

Despite meeting her target, Mrs Moore, is looking to raise even more money. To sponsor her, visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Jilly
