St John’s Catholic Primary School in Trowbridge raises funds for CAFOD every year and gives support to Christian Aid during Christian Aid Week by sending pupils to help at the Bread and Cheese Lunch, a popular fundraising event held annually in the town.
This year the school choir has been invited by the local Christian Aid committee to sing at the lunch on May 15 at St James’ church hall between noon and 1.30pm.
Christian Aid coordinator for Wiltshire Katrine Musgrave said: “Christian Aid Week (May11-17) this year is highlighting the plight of the world’s 45.2 million people who have been displaced by conflict and the vital work that our partners do to help people rebuild their lives and communities after the brutality of war.
“We are delighted to have the support of St John’s Choir who will be helping us to protect vulnerable people in countries such as Syria, South Sudan and Iraq. We are inviting people across Trowbridge to come along and not only enjoy a simple lunch and be entertained by the children, but to show solidarity with people across the world living in poverty and fear.”
