FOOTBALL star and TV personality Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock will grace fans with his presence at an exclusive dinner in aid of the Adver’s 160 Appeal for Prospect Hospice.

The retired sportsman, who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, West Ham and Swindon Town among other teams, will be going over his successful career and share his future plans with guests at the event on Friday, May 9 at the Moonrakers.

The dinner party is the brainchild of Colin Yates and Sean Harper, who have organised various charity events featuring sports celebrities in the past.

Although they have already held such a dinner for charities including Prospect Hospice before, the meet-and-greet will be by far their most exciting to date.

“Razor Ruddock talks really well and he has been on TV a lot lately so hopefully that will make it more appealing for people to attend and he also played for Swindon before, “ said Colin, 34, from Haydon Wick.

“This will be our most impressive dinner. He will talk about his career and what he has been getting up to in the last few years.

“We did a sporting dinner last year for Prospect Hospice and raised £300 and when we heard about the 160 Appeal we decided to do it again for Prospect.”

The 160 Appeal was launched in February to mark the Adver’s 160th anniversary. The campaign aims to collect £160,000 towards end-of-life care at Prospect Hospice by the end of the year.

“We have not set ourselves any targets but we are hoping to sell a lot of tickets. We can take about 220 people,” said the account manager at JAYWING. “Prospect do a lot for the local community and nearly everyone in Swindon knows someone who has been helped by Prospect. They play a part in everyone’s lives and they need all the help they can get. Getting behind the Adver appeal is just a fantastic opportunity to support Prospect.”

The sports dinner, which will include an auction, raffle, as well as fun activities, will take place at The Moonrakers on Cricklade Road from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £25 and are available from Colin on 07534 503444.
