THE M4 was closed in both directions yesterday morning after a man was spotted on an overbridge.

Both eastbound and westbound carriages were closed for approximately 40 minutes between junctions 15 and 14.

Police were called to a bridge between the two junctions at approximately 8am following reports that a motorist had spotted a man on one of the bridges.

There was a minor collision on the motorway at the same time, when drivers spotted the man, but nobody was injured.

The man came down from the bridge at approximately 8.35am and the motorway was reopened but the incident caused delays during the morning rush hour and drivers were urged to find an alternative route.
