OFFICIAL consultation on the future of the Menlo employees at risk of redundancy at Triumph will start tomorrow morning.

Representatives from Triumph, Menlo, Unite and the workforce concerned will sit around the table for the first time since news broke of the lingerie firm’s decision on April 14.

Distribution operations at the Groundwell Industrial Estate site are set to be moved to Triumph’s sister warehouse in Obernai, France.

Menlo employees, who work at the distribution centre on behalf of Triumph, have said the result of the announcement is likely to mean more than 70 staff in Swindon will lose their jobs, though the company is yet to confirm the numbers who are at risk.

Early exchanges in tomorrow’s talks are expected to focus upon the contracts of those employees at Menlo and whether they will officially be switched to Triumph ahead of their release.

The future of Triumph as a firm in Swindon also remains a mystery as the lingerie giant continues to decline to comment on the possibility of job losses or its plans.

It is thought the firm will remain in Swindon in the short-term at least, with the purchasing and financial arms of the business continuing in Groundwell, while the warehouse stands vacant.
