STAFF at Ed’s Easy Diner are going one for all in a bid to help Action for Hunger during a series of events this month.

The team at the Outlet Village restaurant, which has a traditional American diner theme, are behind an attempt to raise up to £2,000 for the humanitarian charity, with a series of fancy dress days ahead of a leg-waxing session.

Managers will be stripped of their leg hair on a sliding scale, depending on how much money they manage to raise, with general manager Darren Popkiss coming at a cost of £1,000.

“I think seeing me in pain will motivate the staff to try and raise the money,” he said.

“Everyone’s really got behind it and wants to raise as much money as we can for this fantastic charity. We’ve got quite a few things going on in the restaurant and all the money from the jukeboxes goes to Action Against Hunger too.

“Child hunger is quite a heavy subject to think about and our attitude is we serve great food in a great environment so we just want others to have the same opportunity.”

Katharine Ross, senior corporate fundraising officer, Action Against Hunger, said: “We’d like to pay special thanks to the staff and customers at Ed’s in Swindon. They are fully committed to the charity partnership and wear their hearts on their sleeves. With so many excellent events lined up there are plenty more opportunities for Swindon customers to get involved if they haven’t already.”

Last weekend the staff wore onesies and pyjamas to work, while on the weekend of May 3 and 4 they will be dressing in an animal theme and May 10 and 11 will be in 50s fancy dress. The leg-waxing event will take place, with the help of Katie Appleton of Tutta Bella Hair and Beauty, on May 17.
