IT WILL be all aboard as a train embarks from Swindon on a cross-country meningitis awareness adventure.

Stroud-based Pathfinder Tours and Meningitis Now are uniting to help raise lifesaving awareness on The Spring Scenic Settler trip from Swindon to Carlisle on Saturday, May 17.

The 600-mile journey includes a fundraising raffle with £100 top prize, other cash prizes, and wine and chocolate among other goodies.

Meningitis Now founder Steve Dayman, who launched the UK’s meningitis movement after losing his baby Spencer to the disease in 1982, said: “I hope it’s all aboard because the journey will be fantastically picturesque and all the while people will help fight the deadly disease.”

The train picks up at Swindon, Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse and Cheltenham Spa stations, and includes the eastern Lake District and Morecambe Bay.
