Devizes woman Chrissy Leonard-Wilson’s head attire has been raising laughs as well as money for two young burns victims in Uganda.
Ms Leonard-Wilson, 63, was moved by the plight of youngsters badly burned as infants and is raising money for a boy called Stanley, aged eight or nine, and a girl called Jessica, of a similar age, to have plastic surgery.
The retired teacher did community work in Uganda. She returned to Devizes last month and had her head shaved and is wearing hats and wigs for two hours a day, until her hair grows back, in return for donations. The wigs and hats have been supplied by the Wharf Theatre in Devizes, and Ms Leonard-Wilson is well on the way to achieving her target of £1,600.
