Trowbridge's success on the field has already translated to commercial success for the club’s sponsors, as years of support start to pay off.

The team’s shirts for the game will be sponsored by the Trowbridge branch of builders’ merchant Travis Perkins, which will be sending staff to Twickenham to represent the firm.

Manager Pete Cadywould said: “They will be wearing our shirts for the game, so we’re quite pleased about that.

“My biggest customer was involved in building their new club, so we wanted to get involved with them, and our links with the club grew from there, but we didn’t expect this to happen so quickly for them.

“I hope they do really well, I think they deserve it. They have a great facility and a great club, and we all wish them all the best on the day.”

The club’s other major sponsor, Bradfords building supplies in Canal Road, has supported the club for three years. Marketing manager Ben White said: “The guys in the branch and a lot of customers are fans. It’s always good to have a local club that’s doing well.”

Nicola Kirk owns the Sportsbug store on Fore Street, and has also supported the club.

She said: “It’s brilliant that Trowbridge is getting on the map again, as it’s good publicity for the town.

“We would like to wish them a lot of luck from everyone at Sportsbug. Let’s hope they win.”

Club finance chief Chris Lamb said: “The club is very grateful for all the support of our sponsors. Their financial input really helps, and enables us to do other things than just sponsor the kit. To have them commit not just for one year but for two, three or even four years at a time is great.”
