Parents, pupils and town groups battled for six hours in the Great Fitz Solar School Table Tennis Challenge in Bradford on Avon on Saturday.
More than 60 people, including members of the Preservation Trust, Town Council and Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, took part at Fitzmaurice Primary School playing in 45 minute slots.
Teams played on three tables and scored 31,231 hits, raising £623 towards the project in which the school aims to raise £16,000 to buy 40 panels. So far a number of events have raised £5,880 – enough for 14.5 panels.
Richard Craft from Climate Friendly is leading the project team and said: “It was brilliant event.”
The next fundraiser is a quiz tomorrow in Bradford’s Upper Masonic Hall at 7pm.
