Police are looking for the driver of a blue MG ZR Rover who ran away from them after crashing in Anchor Road, Calne.
The driver hit a metal railing on the narrow road, just before 6pm on Sunday, April 27, causing his car to tip to one side leaving two wheels on the metal railing and two wheels on the ground.
The incident was reported to police by local residents who hurried out of their houses to check if the man needed an ambulance after hearing a loud bang.
But when officers appeared the man ran away abandoning his car.
It was towed away and is being held in a secure compound whilst police continue their investigations.
PCSO Mark Cook said: “We’re appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision on Anchor Road on Sunday, April 27. We’re looking for any witnesses who saw the man driving the vehicle and his driving manner prior to the crash.”
