Disabled gardeners at Gloucester Road Allotments in Trowbridge can now access the whole site thanks to a new pathway.

The path joins raised beds and the car park with the club hut making it easier for wheelchairs, buggies and frames to get around.

It was funded by grants from Trowbridge Area Board, the Co-operative Community Fund and money raised by the Gloucester Road Allotment Association committee.

The allotments are used by meny community groups, including Ashton Street Daycare Centre, Dorothy House Gardening Club, pupils from Trowbridge College and Shaftesbury Court.

Secretary Valerie Fahey said: “We would like to thank the area board and the Co-operative Community Fund for their funding, which enabled us to put in the new path.

“We are seeing huge benefits from the path and it allows our disabled users to access the raised flower beds more easily and use all the facilities that we offer.”
