STRICTLY Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup has recreated the iconic American Beauty image with pink pens to celebrate a Swindon stationery firm raising £1m for breast cancer research.

Swapping the red rose petals for Pentel’s pink EnerGel pens, Camilla took part in the stunt to help mark the fundraising milestone, accumulated over eight years of support for the charity Breast Cancer Campaign.

The image replicates a famous scene featuring actress Mena Suvari in the Oscar-winning 2000 drama.

Danish-born dancer Camilla has supported Breast Cancer Campaign for more than four years after going through her own scare with the disease.

The 40-year-old said: “I had a breast cancer scare after finding a lump and one of my friends was diagnosed with cancer just last year, so the vital research that Breast Cancer Campaign funds is incredibly important to me.

“Breast cancer is still the most common cancer for women in the UK so the continued support and commitment from Pentel for this amazing charity is truly inspirational and will make a huge difference.”

Launched in 2006, South Marston-based Pentel’s partnership with Breast Cancer Campaign has seen more than 4.9m pens from the range being bought – the equivalent, if placed end to end, of the distance from London to Brussels.

Pentel staff have also played a part in helping boost the fund-raising total by taking part in the charity’s biggest fundraising event, Wear It Pink, which has seen staff dress in pink items for the fundraising day, held in October, and donate to the charity. They have also hosted fundraising raffles, competitions and cake sales.

The effort and commitment of the company was recognised recently at a reception at the House of Lords, where Pentel was awarded Breast Cancer Campaign’s coveted Corporate Partnership Outstanding Achievement Award.

Wendy Vickery, Pentel marketing manager, said: “Looking back eight years ago, it’s staggering to think that we’ve raised over £1 million for Breast Cancer Campaign through sales of our pink pens. Our partnership has gone from strength to strength thanks to the continued support of our staff, customers – especially Clintons – and suppliers who are pivotal to us reaching this fundraising milestone.”

Baroness Delyth Morgan, chief executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “This incredible achievement has been made possible by the dedicated support of Pentel’s staff and the many customers who have bought our charity pens over the years. “Pentel’s pen range has offered consumers a simple way to contribute towards funding research into breast cancer, which is vital if we are to overcome and outlive the disease in the future.”

For every EnerGel Xm pen it sells, Pentel donates 25p to Breast Cancer Campaign. For more information about the partnership or to find the nearest stockist, visit www.pentel.co.uk
