A village cricket club will be in with a shot of raising £30,000 for charities including the Gazette’s Give Us A Chance appeal when it holds a clay pigeon event tomorrow.
Bishops Cannings Cricket Club chairman Ed Davies said: “There will be 180 people shooting and we also have some fantastic money-can’t-buy auction lots so I am confident we can raise at least £25,000 but it could be £30,000.”
The shoot will take place at Wellington Barn, Calstone, near Calne, from noon and will raise money for the Give Us A Chance appeal for Devizes Opportunity Centre, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Prostate Cancer, Ataxia UK and Myasthenia Gravis.
Mr Davies said: “We are very glad to be able to support local charities such as Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Devizes Opportunity Centre. The others have a personal connection for members.”
The auction will include the opportunity to bid for a round at Royal Household Golf Club in the grounds of Windsor Castle which is not usually open to non-members.
