Marlborough’s mayor sees new chains

Marlborough’s new mayoral chains were shown to the mayor and deputy mayor when they visited the workshop where they are being crafted yesterday.

The original chains were stolen from the town hall in October and a decision was made by the town council to replace them.

The town’s insignia has been worn by its first citizen since 1911 and Royal Warrant holder Thomas Fattorini Limited, in Birmingham, is working on the like-for-like replacement.

Yesterday mayor Guy Loosmore and deputy mayor Marian Hannaford-Dobson went to Fattorini’s workshop, to see what progress has been made.

It is hoped that the new chains will be ready for the mayor-making ceremony on May 23.
