Police have described as despicable the theft of ornaments from graves in Devizes Cemetery.
A 12in white alabaster statue of Jesus, a white lamp and two statuettes of the Virgin Mary were taken from graves some time between May 2 and 5 and police are appealing for their return.
Inspector Matt Armstrong at Devizes police said: “This is a despicable thing to do. The items are of low monetary value but they are of great sentimental value to the families of the deceased. it is a very hurtful thing to do to people who are already bereaved.”
Anyone with information about the thefts should contact Devizes police through 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
