People in Box are being invited to try Nordic walking, using ski-style poles, to improve fitness and posture.
Batheaston-based former nurse Alison James runs regular walking groups in and around Bath and is looking to introduce them to Box.
She said: “It’s really good for people with arthritis.
“You have got two poles at about 45 degree angle behind your heels and you’re more or less helping yourself along as you walk.
“You’re taking a much wider stride, going faster, so it gets you up hills much quicker.
“Absolutely anyone can do it. If this is successful I would like to meet once a week, to get a group going.”
Walkers can meet Ms James at the Northey pub at 2pm on May 31. She will provide the poles.
