Two Trowbridge men were arrested on suspicion of arson last night, after a fire was started in a ground floor flat.
Police officers and two fire crews were called to the property at Manor Road, Trowbridge at 7.24pm.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the flat and found no one inside, and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, which were out by 8pm.
Two local men, aged 32 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Both currently remain in custody at Melksham Police Station.
Anyone who was in the Manor Road area of Trowbridge last night between 7pm and 8pm and may have witnessed the incident, should call Wiltshire Police immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
