Devizes Festival: Costume cult

This Is Wiltshire: Rocky Horror Picture Show Rocky Horror Picture Show

Fans of the Rocky Horror Picture Show can turn up in costume for the screening of the cult film at the Palace Cinema on Tuesday, June 10.

The original stage show was a parody of 1930s horror films, so the return to celluloid of the format was a phenomenon coming home. A coach party of fans from all over the country is expected to descend on the cinema for the screening.

Live theatre is provided by Annie Siddons, who performs Raymondo, a tale of two little boys trapped in a cellar for six years, in the Merchants Suite at the Corn Exch-ange on Sunday, June 15.

Dark Scandinavian tales combine with brooding folk music when Serious Kitchen presents The Whispering Road at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, June 21.

Direct from a West End season comes Luke Kemp-ner in a one-man impressions show, The Only Way is Downton, which will be the final event in this year’s festival, at the town hall on Sunday, June 22.

The Independent on Sunday described it as “an affectionate spoof.”

The work of amateur film makers from all over Wiltshire will be on show at the Merchants Suite on Sunday, June 22, as the first Devizes Film Festival goes on screen.

The Devizes Film Festival Early Screening, featuring the work of film-makers aged 16 and under, will start at 6pm, while the work of the adults will be screened at 8pm.

I can't wait to wear my fishnets and suspenders on that Tuesday. I only usually get away with it at the weekend.
